Solido Announcements in 1/18 Scale

Solido have announced a colourful selection of models in 1/18 scale, including the striking Alpine A310 and A110 sports cars, a number of BMWs in colourful rally and racing liveries and a number of unique french cars and vans in striking liveries such as the Citroen 2CV6 in a Brittainy inspired livery and Renault LF4 vans.

In this blog post we will be picking out what we think will be the most popular among collectors of 1/43 and 1/18 scales.

1/18 Scale

Citroen 2CV6

The Citroën 2CV6, also known as the "Deux Chevaux," is a classic compact car produced by the French automaker Citroën from 1948 to 1990. Renowned for its distinctive design and simplicity, the 2CV6 has become an iconic symbol of French automotive history.

The 2CV6 features a charming and minimalist appearance with a rounded body shape, curved fenders, and a canvas roof that can be rolled back for an open-air driving experience. Its unique suspension system, known as the "ripple bonnet" or "umbrella" suspension, provides a comfortable ride even on rough terrains.

Under the hood, the 2CV6 is equipped with a small-displacement, air-cooled, horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine. The "6" in its name denotes the later models with an improved 602cc engine, capable of producing around 29 horsepower.

Throughout its production span, the 2CV6 underwent several updates and improvements, including the adoption of disc brakes, larger windows, and more refined interior features. Despite these changes, the 2CV6 stayed true to its original philosophy of providing an affordable, practical, and fun-to-drive vehicle for the masses.

Today, the Citroën 2CV6 is highly sought after in model form  by enthusiasts and collectors who appreciate its vintage charm, unique character, and historical significance. It continues to evoke a sense of nostalgia and admiration for its enduring appeal as a symbol of French automotive heritage.

Solido are producing two models of this well know and iconic french car, one in a Brittainy Inspired livery and the other in the 1982 'Dolly Green' colour scheme.

BMW E36 Coupe 

The 1994 BMW E36 coupe is a stylish and performance-oriented luxury car that belongs to the third generation of the BMW 3 Series. Introduced in 1990, the E36 coupe offered a perfect blend of comfort, sportiness, and cutting-edge technology, cementing its reputation as a popular choice among car enthusiasts.

The exterior design of the 1994 BMW E36 coupe exudes elegance and athleticism. It features a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette with well-defined lines and a sloping roofline. The distinctive kidney grille, quad headlights, and wide stance contribute to its aggressive yet refined appearance.

Under the hood, the E36 coupe offered a range of engine options to suit different driving preferences. The 1994 model year included engines such as a 1.8-liter inline-four, a 2.0-liter inline-six, and a more powerful 2.5-liter inline-six in the range-topping M3 variant. These engines delivered impressive performance, combining smooth power delivery with responsive handling and excellent driving dynamics.

Alpine A310 Pack GT 

The Alpine A310 Pack GT is a remarkable sports car that encapsulates the essence of performance and style. Produced by the French manufacturer Alpine in the late 1970s, the A310 Pack GT represents a refined version of the original A310 model, incorporating various upgrades and enhancements.

The A310 Pack GT boasts an aerodynamic and captivating design that exudes a sense of speed and agility. Its sleek bodylines, low profile, and pop-up headlights give it a distinctively sporty and timeless appearance. The GT variant featured additional enhancements such as flared wheel arches, wider tires, and a prominent rear spoiler, further accentuating its performance-oriented character.

Under the hood, the A310 Pack GT housed a mid-mounted engine, typically a V6 powerplant. This configuration, coupled with its lightweight construction, provided exceptional handling and balanced weight distribution. The engine's power output varied across different versions, ranging from around 150 to 190 horsepower, delivering exhilarating acceleration and top speeds.

Solido have announced one model of the Alpine A110, due for release later in the year. The model will be finished in red, and feature many of the striking details seen on the car in real life.

BMW M30 M3

The BMW E30 M3 is an iconic sports car that has left an indelible mark on automotive history. Introduced in 1986, the E30 M3 was the first M3 variant and quickly established itself as a benchmark for performance and precision. Its aggressive and muscular design, featuring flared fenders, a distinct front grille, and a rear spoiler, emphasized its racing pedigree and set it apart from the regular E30 models.

At the heart of the E30 M3 was a high-revving 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine derived from BMW's motorsport division. With around 200 horsepower, this engine propelled the M3 with impressive speed and responsiveness, delivering exhilarating acceleration and a thrilling driving experience. Its well-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and limited-slip differential ensured exceptional handling and precise cornering capabilities.

One BMW M30 has been announced by Solido, in the striking FINA Motor oil racing livery, as seen in Monte Carlo in 1989.

Alpine A110

The 2019 Alpine A110 is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Alpine sports car from the 1960s. Reviving the iconic nameplate, the A110 captures the spirit of lightweight agility and driving pleasure. With its sleek and aerodynamic design, the A110 combines classic styling cues with contemporary elements, resulting in a visually striking and distinctive sports car.

Under the hood, the A110 is equipped with a mid-mounted turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, producing approximately 248 horsepower. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, enabling the A110 to deliver impressive acceleration and precise gear shifts.

What truly sets the A110 apart is its lightweight construction. The chassis is made from aluminum, contributing to its remarkable agility and nimble handling. Mercedes C63 AMG
